Corinne Shepheard - Chair (8th year, 18th on the Board)

Ms. Shepheard negotiated aboriginal land claims on behalf of the province of British Columbia for 23 years. Prior to that, she spent 8 years working on provincial policy responses to aboriginal rights and title litigation, and developing provincial mandates for treaty negotiation on a wide variety of land management and natural resource topics. She has a degree in Journalism, and has worked as a journalist, an advertising buyer and a production manager for two multi-national advertising firms, and as a management consultant.


Bob White – Maintenance (11th year)

Mr. White is retired from owning, managing and operating a home health care facility. He brings to the Board his experience and professional expertise in management of a business and maintenance of a facility.


Echo (Kuiack) Michiel – Treasurer (2nd year, 5th year on the Board)

For the past 32 years, Echo has worked for and now owns Mega Power Installations Ltd, her
family-owned electrical contracting business since 1976. In 2002, Echo and her husband Jon purchased Mega Power from her father, carrying on the family business. Over the years Echo has obtained various accounting and business management certificates through Royal Roads University, Camosun College, and the Canadian Construction Association where she achieved her Gold Seal in Construction Management. In 2003, she was awarded “Entrepreneur of the Year” through the Westshore Chamber of Commerce for her role in the restructuring and streamlining of the business.


Carly Milloy – Chair of Fundraising (3rd year)

(Moving into Since 2015, Carly Milloy has been working at Pearson College UWC, a small independent non-profit school in Metchosin, part of the broader United World College movement, with students coming from 95 countries. In her current role as the Director of Advancement and External Relations she leads the fundraising, communications and alumni engagement teams. The school proudly provides significant scholarship support for 75% of the students, made possible primarily through philanthropy. Prior to Pearson College, Carly worked at the Canadian Red Cross and the Royal BC Museum, and has also been involved with other non-profits, including the Association of Fundraising Professionals, United Way of Greater Victoria and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. Born and raised in Victoria, Carly and her husband Matt have two children and one cat.


Yasmeen Hinton – Member at Large (2nd year)

Yasmeen Hinton holds a Degree in Business Administration from the University of Victoria and a Certified Financial Planning Designation from the Financial Institute of British Columbia. Yasmeen worked as a Senior Financial Planner for Scotiabank for several years. Once her and her husband’s first child arrived, 18 years ago, she felt working 12 hours per day/6 days a week was not a conducive lifestyle for her family. She ended up working for the Provincial Government as a Manager in the Health sector. She is a proud Mom of 2 kids; and is excited to be a part of Discovery School.


Kirsti Inglis - Member at Large (2nd year)

Kirsti Inglis has worked for the Developmental Disabilities Association, an organization that supports individuals living with diverse abilities and their families, for over 20 years. During that time, Kirsti served as an Assistant Director, overseeing Adult Vocational and Community Living Services. In this role, she was responsible for departmental oversight including human resources, fiscal management, program development, policy and accreditation compliance. She has served on numerous committees to advance community inclusion. Kirsti moved to Vancouver Island, with her family, 5 years ago and currently works as a staff development and training consultant. She holds a Psychology Degree from UBC and is a certified Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Trainer. She is passionate about creating inclusive opportunities and volunteers for the Victoria Therapeutic Riding Association, the Pacific Animal Therapy Society and Vancouver Island Health Authority. Her daughter has attended Discovery School for 4 years.


Rachel McMenamie – Member at Large (1st year)

Rachel McMenamie is a newly appointed member of the school board. A certified small business bookkeeper with a diploma in Office Administration, Rachel spent 15 years with ICBC, working in the Special Investigations Unit, Claims, and Driver Licensing. In 2021, Rachel and her husband, Firmin, decided to leave their corporate careers to follow Firmin’s lifelong passion for stamp collecting. Together, they launched two auction companies specializing in philatelic collections. A lifelong Islander and parent of four, Rachel brings both personal insight and professional experience to her role on the board, with a steadfast commitment to fostering inclusive education and community collaboration.


Mark Henderson – Member at Large (1st year)

Mark Henderson is a technology executive, entrepreneur, and operations leader with 20+ years of experience helping organizations grow with clarity and purpose. He has led multiple SaaS companies as CEO and COO, serves on the board of The Alacrity Foundation for over 10 years, and supported numerous startups through operational, financial, and strategic transitions. Mark brings a background in M&A, data analysis, and AI. He is passionate about organizational culture and supporting environments where people can thrive.
